You would never know that we’re facing a catastrophic economic crisis by how well the Nintendo Wii is selling.

According to Reuters, Nintendo has sold a formidable 800,000 units of its Wii during Thanksgiving weekend in the U.S.

It more than doubled last year’s sales, which saw 350,000 units the same holiday weekend.

Nintendo president, Satoru Iwata confidently stated, “When the economy is strong, people tend to buy three things from the top of their wish list. But when things are bad, people often buy only the first thing on their list. Fortunately for us a lot of shoppers put our products at the top of their list.”

Do you find his statement to be true?

How many of you have a Nintendo product at the top of your holiday list this year?
